Understanding Kalshi Price and Portfolio Alerts

A price change and a portfolio loss answer different questions. Choose the condition you want to follow, then read the notification as a record of what was observed. It is not a new trading instruction or a prediction.

An alert, explained

Illustrative price-down alert

Price down · −11¢

Saved reference
78¢
Alert trigger
7¢ drop
Target price
71¢
Observed last trade
67¢

The observed move was 11¢. The configured trigger was 7¢. Different facts, clearly separated.

Match the alert to the question

01

How far did this price move?

Choose movement from entry, from now or from a chosen price. The configured trigger is the movement needed to alert; the actual move is what was observed. The resulting target is the price that would meet the condition.

02

How much has this position lost?

Position-loss alerts follow one holding. In Watchtower, shared rules provide defaults, while custom position rules let you set a different trigger for a particular holding.

03

What is happening across my portfolio?

Portfolio-loss alerts watch the account-wide loss condition in dollars or percent. They help distinguish an overall change from movement in one market and do not themselves authorize Sentinel selling.

A few useful answers

Before you get started.

Why can an actual move be larger than my alert trigger?

The trigger is the condition to alert, not a promise to observe every intermediate price. A newer observation can already be beyond it. The alert records the actual observed movement separately from the saved trigger.

What does target price mean in an alert?

It is the absolute price threshold for the alert that fired, not a prediction or the next alert’s target. Continuing alerts advance in the original configured increments and do not repeat a crossed level after a price recovery.

Can I set alerts on individual combo legs?

Yes. View the combo’s legs and add conditions for selected legs alongside the whole-combo rules. Purchase comparisons show changes since you bought when that history is available. A leg alert does not authorize a sale.

Can notifications arrive when the phone app is closed?

Yes. Desktop detects the alert and sends it through the notification services to your paired phone. Delivery still depends on desktop connectivity, your phone’s connection and notification permissions.

Will changing my rules rewrite old alerts?

No. Activity preserves the captured facts for the original alert. Current rules and current prices can differ from the values shown in its recorded details.
